Ouch, revisited
See the swelling on the right ankle? The pain is suddenly worse again over the last week or so. I don't know if it is our new instructor having us do more spinning kicks (which I've been only doing in one direction, the direction where most of my weight is on the other foot) or if it is just too much activity in general, but the pain has now gotten unbearable again. I could barely walk Tuesday morning (after taekwondo Monday night I guess). I skipped class last night and again tonight due to not wanting to make the pain worse. So this swelling today is just after a somewhat normal day of walking around on it, pushing Julia around at "Take your Child to Work Day" which I'll post about shortly, and a day where I didn't exercise or go to the gym or anything...
Perhaps I'll go just to the "weapons" class on Saturday at the sister school. That class won't put much stress on the ankle and will allow me to learn the next bit of the new Bahng Mahng Ee form I'm learning this cycle. I made an appointment for Monday to see the ortho again and see if we can do something like an MRI to see if there is a tear. If it were just tendonitis I believe it should be getting better, not worse. Now my fear is that it IS a tear and I'll need surgery. Not sure how I could do that. And it would definitely mean the end of taekwondo for the foreseeable future. Hopefully I'll know more next week. I guess there is a possibility he could do a cortizone shot in the "new" area that hurts worst now and maybe that would make things better. Because the area where he shot me in December has zero pain now. More to come...
