I see what you are talking about. I don't know if it's my imagination or if I really see it, but I do see a hairline or very VERY thin line connecting the "dots". It could be that it's a crack that's starting to sever starting at the ends, and you are catching it before it hits the middle. Nonetheless, there is definitely cracks there, and that means you need to take care of it, cause just one mishap could render you with a completely broken ankle! (My mother had a very bad one, and it took her a long time to recover.)
